A warm welcome
You are assured of a warm, friendly welcome from Jan & Terry at our ex-working farmhouse home in the quiet rural hamlet of Hewish, tucked away amidst the rolling hills of the South Somerset/Dorset borders, less than 2 miles from the historic Georgian town of Crewkerne, and only 6 miles from East Devon.
The main house, according to the carved stone set high in the gable end dated 1638, was originally occupied by John Beere and his wife Elizabeth.
The railway station has regular services to London - Waterloo (journey time 2.5 hours) Exeter and Plymouth. Transport to or from the station can be arranged, as can reservations at local restaurants, if required.
Perfect accommodation for business or pleasure
Our light, airy rooms are perfect for couples or small parties attending local weddings, or intended visits to friends or families. We also cater for professionals staying in the area for business.
Large en-suite rooms & delicious breakfasts for a relaxing break!
The spacious guest accommodation is in the recently converted barn, situated in the gardens close to the main house, which was specifically designed to afford maximum comfort and privacy.
Enjoy your freshly prepared breakfast in the garden room which opens onto both the front and rear gardens.
Table, chairs & sun-shade are situated outside the bedrooms in a pleasant secluded courtyard garden, the perfect setting to read, plan places to visit, or just to enjoy the garden over refreshments.
An ideal location to see the delights of Somerset
We are ideally located for local golf, fishing and horse-riding, and a superb base for country walks, (the Monarchs Way & Liberty trail pass within 1.5 miles.). It is also an ideal location for cycling, or to simply explore the local picturesque villages and beautiful countryside.
The town of Crewkerne not only has a rich local history with its own small interesting museum, but also has numerous pubs, restaurants & coffee shops, an Aqua Centre, Antique Centre & Lawrence's Auction Rooms, which holds general, collectors & fine art sales.
